These days, it’s more important than ever for your small business to be fluent in marketing and communications. But, how do you learn about marketing without going back to school or guessing until you get it right? Thankfully, there are many courses out there which can help you improve your small business marketing and we’ve picked out our favorites to share with you.

These courses are all free and are a variety of lengths. All the courses also provide a certificate of completion that you can put on your LinkedIn profile. So, without further ado, here are five courses to learn more about marketing:

1. Fundamentals of Digital Marketing

This course is the mother of all marketing courses. Clocking in at 40 hours, it does require a major time commitment. However, it covers just about everything under the sun for digital marketing. This course, made by Google, will certainly give you a comprehensive look into digital marketing.

2. Content Marketing

Content marketing focuses on creating, publishing and distributing content to your audience through digital channels. While this can seem intimidating and challenging to a beginner, this course by HubSpot Academy spells out exactly how to get it done. It lasts about eight hours and is one of the most highly ranked certification courses in the HubSpot Academy library.

3. Fundamentals of Social Media

People spend an average of three hours per day on social media, making it a great resource for small businesses to reach customers. This course, by MuckRack Academy, focuses on understanding different social media platforms and how your business can use them successfully. Completed in under two hours, this course will give you actionable insights for your business’ social media in a short period of time.

4. Email Marketing

Is email marketing dead? According to a survey done by HubSpot, the answer is a resounding no. There are more than 3.9 million daily email users and 59 percent of email users say marketing emails impact their decision to purchase a product or service. By watching this HubSpot Academy Course, you will be able to update your email marketing strategy in under four hours.

5. Google Analytics Academy

Does your business have a website? For almost everyone, the answer is yes. But, how do you measure the analytics on your website? Google Analytics lets you measure dozens of key performance indicators – KPIs – for your website, but it can be confusing to use. The courses from Google Analytics Academy (there are six courses of varying lengths and skill levels) explain Google Analytics and how to make it work for your business.

By taking the time to invest in your education, you will be able to better understand how to market your business and take your communications strategy to the next level.
