The Value of a Content Marketing Internship

1398776_593008990755795_923968122_o As I approach the final weeks of my internship at Fiore Communications, I can’t help but reflect on my experience here these past two years. I began my journey as Content Marketing Intern in 2013 – and as a sophomore in college who was brand new in the marketing major, I was eager to get some experience under my belt and learn all that I could.

When I set out on my quest to find a marketing internship, I was open-minded. I didn’t know what exactly I was looking for in a company and felt that any internship experience would be a great springboard for me. But what I did know was that I wanted to intern somewhere that would help me grow and treat me as an investment. Fetching coffee and filing papers wasn’t on my to-do list, so when I interviewed with Dave and learned about the real responsibilities I’d have here – I was sold.

Eyewear Company Uses Instagram for Audience Building

When your business has first launched or is trying to attract a new type of customer, an important first step is to identify the most effective ways to reach your target audience s. If you have you ever watched Nickelodeon on a weekday afternoon, you know that their advertisers understand their audiences very well. Every commercial is an enthusiastically narrated pitch for children’s toys or a somewhat less enthusiastic pitch to buy household cleaning supplies or cookware. Why? The audiences for that particular channel at that particular hour is generally school-aged children and their stay-at-home parent. While your business may not be investing in television ads, the principle of identifying your audience and tailoring your message to appeal to them remains the same.

When I was a little girl, Valentine’s Day was one of my favorite holidays. My mom would wake up early to decorate the kitchen with red and white streamers and confetti, and make heart-shaped pancakes. My sisters and I exchanged cards with my dad and we would always receive a card from our grandpa in the mail. Then I would go to school and exchange cards with my friends, classmates and, if I was particularly bold, my crush du jour. As I’ve gotten older, the holiday’s emphasis has shifted somewhat from familial love to romantic love, but one thing that has remained constant is the exchanging of cards.

The Power of Students Using Instagram

With the recent, highly anticipated opening of FSU College Town near the campus of Florida State University, it should come as no surprise that many of its businesses are off to a successful start. Tallahassee was long overdue for a new entertainment and shopping area that was not only a short walk from the football stadium on game days, but also provided an upscale option for FSU students to socialize. Although College Town launched without everything ready to open, it already offers something for everyone: several sports-bar style restaurants, a boutique, and my personal favorite – Brooklyn Water Bagels & Pizza Co.
